In Babylon, Black women often follow the fashion advice and direction of gay white men in the fashion industry. Advice that dictates that we be several shades lighter, 4 or 5 sizes smaller, and follow culture that is the antithesis of our own. Dull colors, super tight, super short, and stunted vision describe the current fashion landscape. Only when "ethnic" becomes in vogue, do we dare to embrace huge bangles, fulani earrings, afrikan prints or anything that reflects our heritage. well, i'll be damned if i let debra messing rock some fulanis before i do(look it up)! and i'll be damned if i follow the fashion advice of someone who looks nothing like me. Soooo, here are some of my fashion icons. Enjoy.
